CE08/37 - Cemetery Drainage - Quotation from P.J. Crocombe agreed by Finance and Policy Committee on 21st July 2008, works due to commence 9th September.

The Assistant Clerk gave the Cemetery Superintendent Mrs Bank's report for the period: -
9th June 2008 to 5th September 2008

CE 08/57 Budget Monitoring Report to 30th June 2008
The Assistant Clerk presented the finance report to 30th June 2008. He stated
that expenditure was projected to be on target but income was likely to be in
excess of the budget of £30,000.

CE 08/58 Cemetery Maintenance
a) Fence and hawthorn bushes
It was agreed to contact Southern Land Services regarding the hedge cutting
programme and once this has been completed to review the requirements for the
repairs to the fence. It was also reported that there had been problems with a dog from a neighbouring property adjoining the fencing and this needed monitoring.
b) Overhanging Trees
It was agreed to contact Gary Pearce regarding tree pruning and to obtain an
estimate for the works that he recommends.

CE 08/59 Garden of Remembrance
a) Renovation of current Garden
P. Crocombe to be asked for suggestions for tidying up this area.
b) Options for new garden
Site visit to be arranged and a sketch plan to be prepared for the area of land
opposite the existing garden including path through centre, works to be budgeted
for and completed if possible this financial year.

CE 08/60 Rules and Regulations
Agreed to revise the rules and regulations to allow edging, chippings and stones
subject to Committee approval. Those currently in breach of the current rules
to be asked to apply for retrospective approval. It was further agreed to write to
those in breach of the rules regarding shrubs and small tree and that if no
response is received within 4 weeks, Southern Land Services be asked to remove
the offending trees and shrubs.

CE 08/61 Cremated Remains
Further site visit to be made by Clerk, Cemetery Superintendent and Committee
Chairman and proposed new area for small graves and cremated remains to be
drawn on plan and presented to next meeting.

CE 08/62 Additional Grave Space
Further site visit to be made by Clerk, Cemetery Superintendent and Committee
Chairman and proposed new areas for additional graves to be drawn on plan and presented to next meeting.

CE 08/63 Ground Consecration
It was agreed that once the new plans have been drawn up and approved, all new
areas requiring consecration would be submitted with the plan to the Archdeacon
of Lewes and Hastings.

CE 08/64 Additional Land for Cemetery
The Assistant Clerk agreed to carry out an on line search to establish the
ownership of the adjacent land behind the house to the right of the cemetery.

Council or appropriate Committee
