Minutes
The minutes of the meeting held on 23rd June 2008 approved at Full Council
were signed.

Matters Arising not itemized on the agenda
It was noted that a grant of £300 for the Willingdon Warriors Junior
Football Team had been approved by Full Council and the tracksuit tops
had been obtained. A photograph of the presentation has been submitted
to the press.

R08/36 Reports of Football and Cricket Clubs

Willingdon Football Club
Mr Kensett reported that the season started on Saturday 13th September. The
garage store had now been cleared of all unwanted items. Loose grass
cuttings were causing a problem as they left the pitch in a slippery condition.
It was agreed to ask the Clerk to speak with the groundsman regarding this.

Cricket Club
Mr Goad reported that the season finished at the end of August. The Club
have removed the rope and would use orange netting to protect the pitch
during winter. The mower used to cut the grass had recently been driving
across the cricket square. It was agreed to ask the Clerk to speak with the
groundsman regarding this. Confirmation that the risks identified in the risk assessment had been addressed was awaited by the Council. Mr Goad agreed to chase this up.

Jevington Recreation Ground (including report from Jevington Sports and Cricket Club)
Mr Hirst reminded Members that the licence was due to expire on 31st March
2009 and that the Club would accept a renewal on the same terms. He
further reported that the roof on the old building needed attention and the
felt needed replacing.

Resolved: - for the Clerk to obtain three quotes for the works and to
includes this with any other budget proposals for consideration in
2009/10 budget setting cycle.

For future years the Club proposed that the changing rooms be extended,
this could cost in the region of £8k to£9k.
It was pointed out by the Members that financially next year would be a
difficult one for all Councils.

Huggetts Lane Recreation Ground
a) Pavilion repairs

Resolved: - for the Clerk to obtain and accept the lowest quote up to £650 for repairs / replacement of the pump feeding the "away" showers.

b) Musical event on Recreation Ground
Following a discussion it was suggested that the event should take place on a Sunday during Eastbourne Tennis week. Mr Goad stated that he had no problem with a date as long as he was informed by 31st December 2008.

Resolved: - To set up a working party to look into the possibility of an event in detail including a business plan and to report back to a future meeting. Members of the working party to be Cllrs Gleeson, Pritchett (J), Cooper, Ingram, Fullman and the Clerk.

Tott Yew Recreation Ground
a) Goal Posts
Resolved: - Clerk to obtain three quotes for renovating the existing goal
posts. In addition plans to be drawn up for a new multi-sports structure.
Subject to agreement of the plans the Clerk to be asked to apply to the
SaferWealden Partnership for a grant towards this new youth initiative.

A quarterly budget monitoring statement to 30th June was presented to the Members.
Resolved: - to note the report.


R08/41 'Any other business - for noting or referral to next Agenda for Council or appropriate
committee'.

The annual playgrounds inspection reportwas presented to the Members.

Resolved: - for the Clerk to go through the report with the Committee
Chairman, address any urgent issues and report back regarding other works required.
